My neck would bother me every day. It felt like a crick, but it just would not go away. I felt it mostly on one side. After working all day it felt like a cramp in the trapezius muscle on that side. It would bother me to a degree every single day. I tried taking things such as naproxen sodium and ibuprofen to relieve the discomfort, but I did not want to have to take pills every day. My regular doctor was no help, so I went to a chiropractor in Campbell. My neck alignment was way out. My regular doctor only mentioned my slouching one time, but he did not say a word of it being involved in my daily neck pain. The chiropractor said it was probably at the root of my entire problem.
I was hurting a lot when I went in. It hurt to turn my head to one side. It was really uncomfortable and really annoying to have it hurt every day. The doctor gave me heat therapy, electrical stim, deep muscle stim and a massage on that shoulder to work out the knots. For the first time in a long time I felt better. It was the end of the day too. I usually only feel halfway okay first thing in the morning if I sleep very carefully. I was able to drive home and actually turn my head instead of my whole upper body to look into the rearview mirror.
A few more treatments and doing some weight training exercises to build muscle really helped. I needed to pull my back up straight to avoid the constant pulling on the muscles that were causing the pain. The funny thing is that this involved stretching and strengthening muscles I was not using as I slouched all the time. It hurt to do that, but it was not as bad as the neck pain. After a few weeks, I was completely better and no longer slouching.
